If the Holy Spirit enters, then something happens...because the Holy Spirit is not dormant or just sitting in there twiddling His thumbs...no, He is active. Therefore, we never work for our salvation...no,...we respond to His prompting because we ARE saved! This is why scripture says that a believer does not continue sinning...because they have a changed nature and the power to do so whereas the unbeliever does not have that power or the changed nature.

Blessings!!
JennyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04674371927509456080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412187929957069944.post-38500108418001388142013-01-30T11:44:48.505-08:002013-01-30T11:44:48.505-08:00Thanks for sharing. Without Jesus, we are helpless.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I used to frequent Christian online chatrooms. I remember the way Calvinists would often (but not always) get very hostile if anyone at all questioned the Calvinist doctrines. It was like a horde of barbarians trying to browbeat people into accepting they were right. My view was that quite simply we do not need ANOTHER saviour, when we already have Jesus. Also, incidentally, if you have to argue and get angry to promote your viewpoint, you've already lost the battle.T-Childshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14973808285834438472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412187929957069944.post-63110803008295101752013-01-28T11:48:38.386-08:002013-01-28T11:48:38.386-08:00Amen and Amen. We are saved by grace through faith alone, not in any work, including baptism. The thief on the cross could not be baptized or do any work to merit being in Paradise with Christ, yet there he was, through faith in Christ alone. I wrote a blog post on "Must We Be Baptized?": http://savedbygracebiblestudy.blogspot.com/2012/08/must-we-be-baptized.html
Thanks as always for the excellent, thorough, Scripture-based post.
God bless,
LaurieLaurie Colletthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10676088158113572565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412187929957069944.post-76848868404053690272013-01-28T09:29:12.685-08:002013-01-28T09:29:12.685-08:00Great post, Frank.

While Calvin, and especially his followers went too far in couple of their teachings, Arminius is just as far off in the opposite direction.Donald Fishgrabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11977970195032209188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412187929957069944.post-23822574266882938702013-01-27T12:27:02.117-08:002013-01-27T12:27:02.117-08:00It's strange to call Jesus your Savior when yo...It's strange to call Jesus your Savior when you don't believe He actually saves you, but that you, through ritual, cooperation or effort, must save yourself. Even if Jesus lends aid He isn't a Savior; He's a partner in your salvation. Either Jesus is our Savior and we are saved (past tense) once we believe the gospel or not. Scripture makes this abundantly clear. Thanks for the post.Ian Curtishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11027275808408069964noreply@blogger.com
