One was when I realized I had left my purse with quite a bit of money in it in a telephone box. I returned to the telephone box within about five minutes. My purse was there but the money was gone. I remembered that there were two young women waiting to go into the telephone box after me and it could have been them that took my money, I don't know.

Some time later, just before Christmas time, I found a wallet in a multi story car park. I phoned the police when I got home and told them that I had found a wallet, but gave them no details of what it looked like or how much was in it, just my phone number. A while later they rang back and said there was a man in the police station who had lost a wallet, I said that I would come down to the station.
When I went into the station there was a very distressed young man waiting there. I asked him how much was in the wallet and he told me the exact amount. He had just been paid two weeks Christmas holiday pay. He wanted to give me a reward, I refused. I told him it was the best Christmas present I could have to see him reunited with his wallet.
The two incidents emphasized to me the joy in doing to others what you would have others do to you, that is not found in replacing evil with evil. I could never steal someone's money, or anything else, and the pleasure in seeing the happiness on someone's face is worth it's weight in gold.
God bless you for sharing and I hope Alex is well.Brendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165344093549650260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412187929957069944.post-10419655785330770122015-10-11T12:56:18.401-07:002015-10-11T12:56:18.401-07:00Dear Frank,

Sadly, as you so well point out, many "Christians" are quick to speak the truth, but they forget the last part -- speak the truth in love. Pastors and evangelists who use the pulpit as an excuse to bully others do far more to alienate the world than they do to bring people to Christ.

God's providence, and the agape love of others, protected me from my own carelessness on 2 occasions I remember well. When I returned home one day after picking up my son at my mother-in-law's house, I had a phone call from someone I had never met. She had been sitting on her lawn near my mother-in-law's house when my car drove by, and my wallet, which I had thoughtlessly laid on the car roof as I strapped the baby into his car seat, flew off the roof and onto her lawn.

On the second occasion, I discovered at the end of a very long day seeing patients at a very busy VA Hospital that my wallet was missing. Panicked, I retraced my steps, checked with security, to no avail, until I returned to a ladies' room where I had stopped early in the morning. There was my wallet, completely undisturbed where I had left it on the sink. No doubt hundreds of women had been in there and could easily have pocketed the wallet or even just the cash, and yet nothing was missing, praise God!
Thanks as always for the excellent post.
